The collection of hunting weapons of the 16th–19th centuries is one of the main treasures of the Gatchina Palace and Estate Museum. Most of the collection was amassed in the second half of the 18th century by the first owners of the palace — Count Grigory Orlóv and Grand Duke Pável Petróvich.
Today in the Armory Gallery you can see exhibits made by master gunsmiths from Germany and Austria, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Spain, the Ottoman Empire, the Caucasus and Russia. In the middle of the gallery are showcases containing weapons made especially for the royal owners of the palace. Among them are pistols with wheel locks, flintlock pistols and rifles, shotguns and hunting daggers.
