The permanent exhibition of the museum shows the life, traditions, history, and folklore of the Khanty people. The exhibition reflects the ideas of the indigenous peoples of the North about the world order and consists of three parts: “The Upper world inhabited by Gods”, “The Middle world is the world of human”, and “The Underwater and the underground world”.
The exhibition is designed to include the features of the traditional culture of the Northern peoples. For example, the walls of the ground floor are decorated with deerskins and reindeer moss. Visitors will see the traditional Chum dwelling, learn how the national holiday “Bear Games” is celebrated, and hear folklore songs in the Khanty language. The exhibition presents many household items created from natural materials in accordance with the ancient technologies.
